BEES: Facts from the Class

Pilgrims brought the first honeybees to America.

1.Bees live in groups called colonies.2. The honeybees that do all the work in the hive are called worker bees. 3. Honey bees carry the pollen in special pollen baskets on their back legs.
4. A queen bee lays eggs all day.
5. Bees go to flowers to get nectar to make honey. A bee does a waggle dance to tell other bees about a nectar source she has found.

6. The comb is made of wax and shaped like hexagons.7. A worker bee can fly about 15 miles per hour and lives about 30 days.
8. The workers make "bee milk" or royal jelly to feed the younger baby bees and to feed the queen.
